The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has rolled out Volvo buses that offer Wi-Fi on the go and they are probably the first public transport company in India to offer such a facility. The aim is to attract students, working executive and other tech-savvy people who otherwise prefer taking the train.
While there’s no information available on the official GSRTC website, a picture sent byAkash Shah suggests that the Wi-Fi provider is Tata Communications.
GOOD NEWS: Not only Gujarat providing this facility, but the Karnataka State buses plying between the Bangalore Airport and the city also offer wireless Internet to passengers.
An earlier report published in the Ahmedabad Mirror said that the plan was to Wi-Fi enable all Volvo buses that connect Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Surat. Lets wish other states follow suit. If you have had a chance to travel in one of these Wi-Fi buses, please do share your experience in the comments.
